There! Now your trackpad options should correctly show up in Control Panel's Mouse Options, and Windows won't replace the drivers anymore. Unzip the Synaptics driver folder and run the setup.exeĩ. If it's still there, uninstall "Asus Support Device" in device manager, under mice (again, see step 4). Select it and go through the troubleshooter.ħ. The Asus Support Device should now pop up as an option. Run the troubleshooter (step 3) once again. Now, Windows will eventually try to re-download the drivers eventually, but you should be able to disable the driver from the troubleshooter before that happens.Ħ. Remove the driver package using the checkbox, too!ĥ. If you're not sure how to do this, see this guide. Go to Device Manager and uninstall the drivers for "Asus Support Device" under mice. SKIP TO STEP 7!ģ.2 If "ASUS - Other hardware - Asus Support Device" is not shown, continue to step 4.Ĥ. Click "Next" -> "Hide updates."ģ.1 If "ASUS - Other hardware - Asus Support Device" is shown, check the box and press next until the troubleshooter is done. Download these specific Synaptics Drivers, but do not install yet: ģ. Alternative: If Windows fails to download the Asus driver completely or if it downloads the wrong touchpad driver again, you will need to uninstall the wrong one again and download the Asus Touchpad driver manually from their website by following the instructions below. Windows should now proceed to download and install the Asus Touchpad driver. I noticed Windows 10 insists on automatically installing the "best" broken Asus touchpad drivers - even over my manually installed Synaptics ones!
